Ahangama has grown from a sleepy village into Sri Lanka's trendiest surf stop. Plantations — a long, tapering right-hand reef — is the main draw, with quieter breaks at Kabalana just down the coast.
Season: November to April.
The wave: Plantations is a clean, walled-up right that rewards patience and positioning. Best on a rising tide with swell in the head-high range.
Where to stay: Design-forward guesthouses, co-working cafés, and more yoga than you can shake a longboard at. Ahangama is the "digital nomad surf" hub.
